Marvel vs Capcom 3 control scheme revealed

Now that E3 is over and Capcom’s Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has been played by the public, we finally have information on the scontrol scheme that will be used for the game. Back at Captivate, Seth Killian mentioned on numerous occasions that the final button set up was still being debated. The team bounced back and forth between traditional 6-button Street Fighter setups and styles a lot more similar to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

According to those who got a chance to sit down with the game in LA, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will actually incorporate a combination of both. While the game will utilize a 6-button setup, the button assignments are an expansion of the TvC arrangement. The button layout consists of you typical 6 button sprawl and the top 3 will function as attack buttons. The game will not feature specific punch or kick buttons, but rather three attack buttons differentiated by their power: weak, medium, and strong.

The bottom three buttons act as auxiliary functions with the first button being a launcher button (to propel your opponent into the air) and the other two serving as partner buttons (one for each). Personally, I think that this sounds perfect. I really grew to absolutely love the control scheme of TvC and this sounds like it simply takes that to the next level. 2011 cannot come quick enough.
