League of Legends is quickly gaining in popularity as a competitive PC gaming experience, and the amount of support we’ve received from the eSports community is inspiring!” said Marc Merrill, president of Riot Games and executive producer of League of Legends. “We wanted to bring the end of Season One directly to our players and fans – the Championship at Dreamhack is going to be the largest, most competitive gathering of players, and will doubtless produce some exhilarating matches. We’re going to make the viewing experience amazing for folks at home, too – over 140,000 viewers streamed the Intel Extreme Masters exhibition match, and we can’t wait to see how many people tune in for the Championship!”
