Greed Corp coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or PC near you in 2010

More On: Greed Corp
Independent developer W!Games has announced a new game, Greed Corp, and its impending release in the year 2010 on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Windows based PCs. While Greed Corp may sound like a stock market simulator videogame (lord knows we don't need any more) it is a turn based strategy game. The action takes place high up in the clouds atop massive columns of rock kiss the sky. Actually I'm not sure what's going on since the press release says the game takes place in the Mistbound universe, but I have no idea what that is. Aside from the steam punk looks Greed Corp's gameplay, as shown below in the trailer, intrigues me. The deadly combination of warfare and abuse of resources sends the towers of rock which civilization rests tumbling to a dark fate below. I'm not sure why you would fight over what little land is left habitable instead of making peace and trying to rebuild the world but then peace doesn't always make for good video games.

Preserve Your World or Destroy It? You Decide When Turn-based Greed Corp Comes to PSN, XBLA and Windows-based PC Early 2010
AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS – November 10, 2009 – W!Games, an independent multiplatform game development studio, announced today that Greed Corp, its innovative turn-based strategy game recently announced for PlayStation®Network, will be released on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows-based PC’s in early 2010.
The first in a series of games based in the rich Mistbound universe, Greed Corp takes place in a world of feudal warfare ravaged by industrial consumption. As one of four warring factions, your aim lies clearly on territorial domination, but at what cost? Can you find the delicate balance between harvesting the land for resources and preserving it to stay alive? Will you defend your territory or sacrifice it to keep it out of enemy hands?
Featuring an innovative land-collapsing mechanic which constantly alters the strategic landscape, players must destroy enemies, demolishing or capturing enemy structures, while defending their own territories using any means necessary.  Build Harvesters to reap the land for credits to spend on armories and cannons, or manufacture walkers to conquer enemy territory and order carriers to transport battalions of troops across the map, the choice is yours. But watch out: abuse the already maligned land too greatly, and it will fall out from under you!
In recognition of its creative achievements, Greed Corp was nominated for the European Innovative Games Award 2009 (EIGA), an initiative which encourages the development of innovative video games which is supported by the European Commission.

About ‘Mistbound’
A beautiful world, divided by greed...
A rich fictional world created as an original Intellectual Property (IP) and a platform for the W!Games’ multi-format downloadable games and other media, Mistbound serves as the setting for a variety of cautionary tales on a once-beautiful world formerly rich in resources now on the brink of collapse. Despite automated industry bringing great material wealth, relentless harvesting and mining has forever altered the world and its inhabitants.  Greed Corp is the first in a series of games situated in this universe. Inspired by the industrial revolutions of the 19th century and its subsequent destructive effects on the environment, the last unspoiled lands are at stake in new conflicts between four factions, while the stripped and barren earth around them slowly succumbs to a thick mist that creeps ever closer...
