THIRD AND FINAL INSTALLMENT OF NIER COMIC RELEASED ON GAME’S OFFICIAL WEB SITE
Gamers The World Over Are Asking About NIER’s Unique Storyline; Online Comic Offers Possible Answers

LOS ANGELES (May 11, 2010) – Square Enix has released the third and final installment of the three-part comic book based on NIER, the mysterious and intriguing action-RPG that released on April 27. Developed in conjunction with DC Comics’ WildStorm Studios, the NIER comic provides a sneak peek for gamers into the dark mythology behind NIER. All three parts of the comic are now available as a free download from the game’s official website at http://na.niergame.com/.

Since the game’s release, reviewers across the world have been entranced by NIER’s powerful storytelling, twisting secrets and unique characters, including Nier himself as well as his companions, Kaine, Grimoire Weiss the talking book, and Emil. The New York Times proclaimed that NIER is “…provocative and at times profound in its storytelling, empathetic and nuanced in its characters, exhilaratingly diverse in its game-play design and almost perfectly paced,” while the Associated Press agreed in their review, saying “[NIER’s] story and characters keep taking unpredictable turns, making ‘NIER’ one of the year's more pleasant surprises.”

The third and final installment of the comic book will continue to help shed light on the game’s powerful and mesmerizing tale, picking up where the first two editions let off. In this short story, Nier, Kaine and Grimoire Weiss continue their search through a ruined village for a powerful shade, while Nier recounts time spent as a nomad with his daughter Yonah, his battle to feed and protect her and the importance of recognizing life and beauty amongst the ruins.

The NIER comic was developed by the renowned creators and illustrators at DC Comics’ Wildstorm Studios, including Emmy-winning creator and executive producer Ricardo Sanchez; Pop Mhan, whose work has appeared on everything from Spider-Man and Ghost Rider at Marvel Comics to Batgirl and The Flash at DC Comics; Eddie Nuñez, who works on the soon-to-be released DC Universe MMO; and, Carlos D’Anda, whose dynamic style has brought life to such notable titles as Justice League of America, Deathblow, and Lego’s Bionicle.

NIER is currently available on for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
