Even more Oddboxx news - PC to get HD version of Stranger's Wrath

More On: Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Oddboxx
The news was teased yesterday but has been confirmed by Oddworld Inhabitants - the PC version of Stranger's Wrath will get the HD updates that will be included in the PSN version next year.  Just Add Water is hard at work on updating the game to make it more visually appealing and ready for the current generation of consoles.  Thankfully, all of their hard work will be shared with customers who purchase the Oddboxx PC compilation.

More details on what updates are already included in the Oddboxx are in the press release.  Apparently, there will be even more announcements next year as we get closer to the "HD patch."  Hopefully this is the last of the Oddboxx news; I'm getting tired.

LOS ANGELES, U.S.A. – December 20th 2010

Today, Oddworld Inhabitants finally releases the long-awaited Oddboxx through Steam’s digital download service, and for today only, the Oddboxx will be on sale for 50% of its $24.99 marked price, as part of Steam’s holiday promotion.

The Oddboxx contains the first four critically-acclaimed and award winning games from Oddworld Inhabitants, including the previous PC releases Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus, and the new-to-PC platforms Munch’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath.

The games can also be bought separately, and later this week will also be made available over IGN D2D, Stardock, Amazon and GamersGate.

While the versions of Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus are the presently-existing released PC games, the ports of Munch’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath will contain some enhancements from their Xbox versions:

Munch’s Oddysee:
  • Runs at 1024x768 at a steady 60fps.
  • Keyboard/mouse controls
  • Joypad controls
  • Steam Achievements
Stranger’s Wrath:
  • Supports multiple resolutions from 800 x 600 up to 1600 x 1200
  • Keyboard/mouse controls
  • Joypad controls
  • Re-mastered audio
  • Updated UI with better quality texturing
  • Steam Achievements

Note: Stranger’s Wrath will receive ADDITIONAL enhancements in 2011 that will be taken from the forthcoming upgraded PSN version. This will included upgraded models, rendering, brand new UI system and some extra surprises to be announced later.

Finally, fans are urged to check out www.Oddworld.com where we’ve provided a free download of a special ten-track promo to celebrate the Oddboxx, featuring music from the Japan-only Abe’s Oddysee soundtrack, the limited release Stranger’s Wrath soundtrack, and the ‘didn’t-even-get-released’ Munch’s Oddysee soundtrack.

This is a special gift for everyone that we hope you’ll enjoy.

Happy holidays!
