Mass Effect 2 uses the save game data from the first game. The folks at Bioware were very serious about making sure that your decisions in the first game had consequences in the second as the game will look back and see how you responded to a character or what you did and then shape your experience in
Mass Effect 2 based on that. That is amazingly cool and of course it's safe to assume what you do in
Mass Effect 2 will have consequences in
Mass Effect 3 when it comes out.
