Ace Combat Assault Horizon: the release date

by: Nathaniel -
More On: Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Namco Bandai Games has announced today that their upcoming air-combat game, Ace Combat Assault Horizon, will be released on October 11th in North America and October 14 in Europe for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The newest iteration of the venerable franchise looks to shake things up this round by adding in-air acrobatics, counter-maneuvers, and new destruction effects on building and airplanes. It also features a story written by New York Times' bestselling military author, Jim DeFelice, author of such man-fiction titles as Leopards Kill and Threat Level Black (Co-written by Micheal Scott perhaps? - editor's note: no).  The story revolves around a top gun pilot in an international task force and will take the player to such exotic locales as Dubai and Russia, and will also incorporate new types of aircraft like super-sonic jets (those are new?) and the introduction of attack helicopters, door gunners, and more.

Ace Combat Assault Horizon will also introduce a close-range assault system to make dogfights more exciting.  Hopefully that means they've found a way to change the combat so that EVERY ENEMY ISN'T SHOOTING AT ME WHILE I'M DOGFIGHTING, AND I DON'T HAVE TO BREAK OFF FROM DOGFIGHTING 15 TIMES A SECOND TO SHAKE NEVER ENDING MISSILE LOCKS!!!!!!!!

Also on the "hopefully" front, the new story writer means we air combat fans will never ever again be forced to listen to the phrase "go dance with the angles."
