Why we do the things we do...

There is a new trailer making the rounds online for a fanmade documentary entitled Street Fighter: Beyond the Game. The film, from an individual going by the name AnamatronicAckbar, did a majority of its filming at this past year’s EVO 2010 in Las Vegas. The documentary features in depth interviews with some of the people who dedicate their lives to the competitive fighting game scene, particularly the Street Fighter games.

I have always enjoyed documentary style movies and this one looks to be no different. It takes a special type of gamer to make it on the competitive scene, and I don’t just mean those that play a lot on Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. It is always interesting to see the other side of things, the side I / we don’t normally see from our perspectives. This film hits a particularly interesting spot for me as I would love to make it to the competitive level of fighting games, but just am not disciplined and skilled enough to do so. I will definitely be checking this out when the fina product gets released.

You can keep an eye on the project at its official website, but there isn’t much information now. Check out the trailer below (age gated due to some mature language).
