CAMBRIDGE, MA and NEW YORK, NY – Dec. 7, 2010 - Harmonix Music Systems and MTV Games, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), along with T-Mobile USA, Inc., the official mobile partner of the Rock Band Network, today announced that pop-rock trio The Downtown Fiction are the Rock Band Network’s December “T-Mobile Artist-of-the-Month”. The band is also MTV’s PUSH artist for the week of Dec. 13.

“Since forming in 2008, The Downtown Fiction have been part of the Bamboozle Road Show and the 2010 Vans Warped Tour and have engaged and rapidly expanded their fan base,” said Cheryl Gehbauer, Senior Director of Music for MTV Games. "We look forward to supporting their further development by making them Artist of the Month."

As the December “T-Mobile Artist-of-the-Month,” The Downtown Fiction will be featured for one month in promotions throughout the Rock Band Network Music Store and on the official game website, http://www.RockBand.com, including the RBN content hub at http://t-mobile.rockband.com. The RBN content hub is a rich source of information about Rock Band Network, including Inside RBN, a source for consumers to discover new music, and Creators Club, a source for artist/authors/labels to find out more about the RBN authoring process.

As the MTV PUSH artist for the week of Dec. 13, The Downtown Fiction will also be featured in a One to Watch Interview on MTV’s 10 on Top, airing Dec. 11, and will be featured in an exclusive photo shoot and interview on MTV.com during the week of Dec. 13.

The Downtown Fiction of Fairfax, Virginia, formed in the summer of 2008 by Cameron Leahy (vocals/guitar) and Eric Jones (drums). The two posted three demos on their MySpace and were blown away by the response. Soon after, they recruited friend David Pavluk on bass and backing vocals to round out the trio. With Cameron’s majestic stage presence, and the band’s witty lyrics and catchy chords, it’s no question why label president Matt Galle quickly signed them to Photo Finish Records in 2009.

The Downtown Fiction released their first EP, The Downtown Fiction, on May 3, 2009, and released a second, Best I Never Had, just a short year later on March 23, 2010. The band’s songs, “Best I Never Had,” “I Just Wanna Run” and “Oceans Between Us,” are available for the Rock Band Network. Not only did their debut video for "I Just Wanna Run" premiere on MTV Hits, MTV2, and MTV U, but their music could be heard throughout the second season of MTV's Jersey Shore and has been featured on other shows like The Hard Times of RJ Berger, The Challenge: Fresh Meat II, The Hills and Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
