Believe it or not, Minecraft is still officially in the beta phase. The game is a certifiable hit, selling over 3 million copies to date and the game hasn’t even officially been released. The official release date of the game, which was previously announced as 11/11/11, is now being shifted a week later, to November 18, 2011. The day, not only will the game be officially released, but the first official Minecraft Convention, Minecon, will kick off at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Minecon is going to take place on November 18 and 19 and tickets are available now. Pre-sale tickets for the event are now available for $99 through the official Minecon website.

Those who wait until the event and want to purchase tickets at the door will have to pay $139. The first 500 fans who purchase tickets will have their name(s) entered into a drawing for a chance at winning “The Ultimate Fan Experience”. This prize package includes full accommodation during the event, VIP seating at all keynotes, panels and classes, as well as a private dinner with the staff of Mojang.
