Gamespy is reporting that, according to a statement released today on the official PlayStation blog, George "GeoHot" Hotz and Sony have reached an out-of-court settlement regarding GeoHot's public distribution of PS3 root keys.

Details of the settlement are confidential, but Hotz did consent to a permanent injunction that will keep him from engaging in such hacker-related activity in the future.

So I guess that's Sony -1, pirates - 0 or maybe it's pirates - 304,893,847,984, Sony - 1.  It's always hard to tell who is winning in the great Pirates versus Programmers arms race.  One thing that sticks out to me is that GeoHot received some kind of payment from Sony to compel his agreement to the injunction.  Essentially he was bribed by Sony to cut it out.

Let that be a lesson to you, aspiring hackers; one day you too may be paid-off by Sony to stop ******* with their code.
