Halo: Reach getting special editions (act surprised)

More On: Halo: Reach
Microsoft has revealed that there will be three versions of Halo:Reach when the game hits stores later this year.  You'll be able to choose from the standard version (for those who just want to play the game), the Limited Edition (which will come in a special black box, a special Elite Armor set, and a bunch of back story content), and the Legendary Edition (which will include a statue from McFarlane Toys, super special packaging, and a special Spartan armor effect).  The editions will cost you $59.99, $79,99, and $149.99 respectively.

Cats and toddlers worldwide are sure to be celebrating the fact that the game will not be shipping with a helmet themed container like the one that shipped with Halo 3. I do have to admit the statue that ships with the game looks pretty sweet but I'm not sure it's $150 sweet.

Microsoft also wants to remind you that the Halo:Reach multiplayer beta starts on May 3rd so be sure to dig out that copy of Halo:ODST or pick one up out of the bargain bin of your local game retailer.
The biggest game of 2010, “Halo: Reach,” is getting the ultimate collector’s treatment. Available for pre-order starting today at participating retailers worldwide are the Limited and Legendary editions of “Halo: Reach,” each packed with exclusive content fans won’t want to miss. Additionally, today Bungie unveils a new action-packed video documentary offering a behind-the-scenes look at the development of “Halo: Reach” and a sneak peek at the new modes, features and content that players will be able to test when the multiplayer beta kicks off on May 3.

“Halo: Reach” will be available in standard, Limited and Legendary editions when the game launches this fall. Both the Limited and Legendary editions are filled with content based on the fiction of “Halo: Reach” and the “Halo” universe, and are expected to sell out quickly. The Legendary edition, which will be produced in very limited quantities, is designed for the “Halo” fan who has to have it all. The centerpiece is a collectible 10 inch tall, more than 10 pound statue of Noble Team, created by the acclaimed designers at McFarlane Toys. Full details on the contents of the Limited and Legendary editions are below:
