2K pushes The Darkness II to 2012, will be showing up to Comic Con this week

More On: The Darkness II
2K Games has pushed back the release date of The Darkness II back to February 7, 2012 (it was originally going to be released on October 4th, 2011).  No reason for the delay was given but you have to think 2K is trying to get the game out of the FPS hell that was this holiday season (Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, and Resistance 3 to name three) and 1Q 2012 is relatively empty making it a fairly good time to release sequel to a cult classic.

That's the bad news, the good news is that the game will have a strong presence at Comic Con this week as there will be a panel celebrating the 15th anniversary of the franchise (well the comic book at least) on Thursday from 12-1 in Room 9.  2K will also have playable demos of the game on the show floor so you can take the tentacled shooter for a spin when you find some free time.
2K Games Announces New 2012 Release Date for The Darkness™ II

Gamers to get an early glimpse into supernatural thriller at San Diego Comic-Con

New York, NY – July 19, 2011 – 2K Games announced today that The Darkness™ II, for all previously announced video game consoles and PC, is now planned for release on February 7, 2012 in North America and February 10, 2012 internationally. Currently in development with Digital Extremes and based on the supernatural horror comic book series created by Top Cow Productions, Inc., The Darkness II delivers a brutal and personal narrative as gamers take control of Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and wielder of an ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction known as the Darkness.

Additionally, 2K Games announced their presence at San Diego Comic-Con and will co-host a special panel featuring The Darkness II™ entitled “Spreading The Darkness: From Comic Book to Video Games and Entertainment,” in celebration of the 15th Anniversary of The Darkness. The discussion around The Darkness II will feature top talent from Top Cow Productions, including CEO and co-creator of The Darkness, Marc Silvestri, and President and COO of Top Cow, Matt Hawkins; developers from Digital Extremes; and in-game voice of the Darkness, Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle and Peeping Tom). The panel will take place on Thursday, July 21, 2011, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. PDT in Room 9 within the San Diego Comic-Con convention center.

2K Games will also have eight playable demo kiosks of The Darkness II in the Top Cow booth (#2629) on the San Diego Comic-Con show floor for fans to descend into the gritty and visceral mind of Jackie Estacado.

The Darkness II is the sequel to the million unit-selling 2007 title, The Darkness, and brings a unique new combat mechanic through Quad-Wielding™, which will allow players to slash, grab, and throw objects and enemies with two Demon Arms while simultaneously firing two weapons. The game is layered with thematic elements of dark versus light, steeped in deep and twisted storytelling, and maintains the stylistic violence visualized through a hand-painted graphic noir technique, true to its comic book origins.

The Darkness II is not yet rated by the ESRB. For more information on The Darkness II, please visit www.embracethedarkness.com.
