One thing that has been consistent since the AppStore opened for business has been a deluge of cheap and casual games that have been getting cranked out on what seems like a daily basis.
Well, it appears as if some of the more well-known franchise titles from our past as well as our present have finally caught up. In the last couple of months, several well known titles (and series) have made their way to the iPhone/Touch including
Need for Speed Undercover
(EA Mobile),
Assassin's Creed - Altair's Chronicles
(Gameloft),
Tiger Woods
(EA Mobile),
Metal Gear Solid Touch
(Konami),
MYST
(Cyan Worlds) and
Wolfenstein 3D
(id Software.) The majority of these games are priced between $5.99 and $9.99 initially and could be considered those
rumored premium titles
that Apple was possibly going to create a separate store for. While I haven't gotten into many of these titles yet, the ratings from the masses seems that they are well-received despite their higher cost, averaging a superb 4.5 stars.
