More On: Little Dragons Cafe

Little Dragons Cafe, the RPG/management sim/farm game/exploration title from renowned game designer Yasuhiro Wada (of Harvest Moon fame) releases on Friday, August 24th on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

The reveal trailer was charming, unveiling the delightful story-book art style and gameplay that looks to be both classic and modern at the same time. A new trailer was released recently that delves deeper into the exploration aspect of Little Dragons Cafe, and it only reinforces my desire to lose myself this tranquil world.

The story sounds charming. Two twins help their mom manage the titular cafe, until one day she falls into an enchanted sleep and cannot be awakened. A strange old guy shows up and tells them that in order to save their mother, they must raise a dragon (because that's how things work). They set off to find a dragon to raise, while still maintaining the family business (Dragons Cafe gots to get paid, son!).

It is interesting to note that this is a full-price release, and physical versions will be available for $59.99. After an extended period in the digital-only handheld/indie ghetto, it is refreshing to see RPG style games once again move into the console space. The success of Octopath Traveler proves that there is an audience for this style of game, and we can expect to see more games like this coming to console in the coming months. Win!
