Is TSMC the reason the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are low in stock?

NVIDIA is partners with TSMC and they are the ones that produce the chips for NVIDIA cards. Reports are coming out that TSMC is the reason that the newest GeForce cards are in low supply.

The new Pascal cards need 16nm chips and it seems TSMC is having problems producing them in good numbers. You also couple that with the fact the cards are in high demand and you'll get a nice shortage were some stores are marking them up significantly.

I'm still waiting to see if I should pick up the card or wait until another version comes out. I have yet to find a game that taxes my system with a GeForce GTX 980 and even VR games run smooth on my setup. But, for those looking for a great upgrade, the 1070 and 1080 are great choices provided you can find them online or at your local stores.
