More On: Miitomo My Nintendo

Club Nintendo may be gone but Nintendo has replaced it with two new options for gamers wordwide. This week Nintendo has launched both Miitomo and My Nintendo as replacements for the much loved rewards program that they closed down last year.

Miitomo is a free-to-start social service available now on iOS and Android devices worldwide. Upon registering and creating your new Mii character, you will be able to network and communicate with other users worldwide by answer a variety of questions and sharing the results with the world. It’s definitely a bit strange, both in its premise and how unusually addicting it has been so far. As you use the service you will be rewarded coins that can be spent within the application to play mini games and purchase clothes and accessories for your virtual self.

In conjunction with Miitomo, My Nintendo has opened up online as well. This is a web portal that will both give you access to your Miitomo challenges and information on the web and give you a chance to earn additional virtual currency and spend them on real-world things. Coins and currency earned on My Nintendo and the Miitomo can be redeemed on the website for various things such as discount coupons and codes for games from the Nintendo eShop on either your 3DS or Wii U.

Nintendo is reporting that more than 3 million users have signed up for the new services worldwide, so what are you waiting for?
