Double Fine's Hack 'N' Slash is practicing what it preaches

Remember way back in 2012 when Double Fine did another Amnesia Fortnight? The two games with the most votes from the public, Hack 'N' Slash and Space Base DF-9, received funding from the Indie Fund and Humble Bundle to make their prototypes into full-fledged games. Spacebase DF-9 went into Early Access in October 2013, and in December the creator of Hack 'N' Slash announced that it was going to be released sometime in the first half of 2014. Well, Hack 'N' Slash went into Early Access in May 2014, and this week on September 9th, it took off it's baby shoes and became a fully realized game.

For those of you who aren't familiar, the concept behind Hack 'N' Slash is that it's a Legend of Zelda-style game where you defeat enemies and solve puzzles by using in-game tools to hack it. Your sword is a giant USB stick that can change the properties of whatever you plug it into. This video from Hack 'N' Slash's Early Access days does a really good job of giving you an idea what to expect:

Looks pretty sweet right? Combined with other items like a hat that lets you see the game in Debug Mode, there will be plenty for you to tinker with in-game. What's that? You want to go even further with your hacking endeavors? Good news! When you buy Hack 'N' Slash, you also get the game's source code, so you can do whatever you want to mod it. Here's to hoping that there's a file hidden in there called e3_bloom_effect.
