Nintendo throws in demos to their weekly downloadable lineup

by: Tina -
This week’s list of downloadable Nintendo titles is possibly the most full in some time. Amongst the new titles available on the Wii and DSi are the introduction of demo versions of several popular Wii titles as well as the return of the Virtual Console.

The new title available on the WiiWare is Snowpack Park (800 Wii points), perfect for the upcoming winter season. The game involves rounding up lost penguins after a hectic snowstorm to bring them back to the park. The game also has a tamagotchi side to it in which you have you take care of the penguins to keep them from abandoning the park.

The other WiiWare titles are demo versions available from free. The physics-based And Yet It Moves (1,000 Wii points), side scrolling shmup BIT.TRIP FATE (800 Wii points), the platformer Jett Rocket (1,000 Wii points) and the puzzle game ThruSpace (800 Wii points) are all available in demo form as of this week.

As for the DSiWare, three new titles are available. You can take your pick from Tetris Party Live (500 DSi points), Music on: Electric Guitar (200 DSi points) and the time management game of Supermarket Mania (500 DSi points).

Finally, this week’s old school game of choice is SPIN MASTER (900 Wii points) which is a side-scrolling action game resurrected from the 90s. Read on for fuller descriptions of each of the games mentioned.

Description: Welcome to Snowpack Park! You’ve arrived in hopes of hanging out with some of the local penguins and learning how to take care of them. However, a recent storm has just sent the residents of the park fleeing to various islands throughout the area, and there are only a few penguins to be found. Take control of either a Mii™ character or one of the game’s built-in characters and brave various terrains and unexpected obstacles. Travel from island to island, find penguins and bring them back safely to the park. But getting them back is just the beginning. The penguins have different moods, which will go up and down depending on how much interaction they have with you. If a penguin's mood gets too bad, it will leave the park. To prevent that from happening, you must learn how to feed, pet and play with the penguins in order to keep them happy. Throughout the park, you’ll also find fun minigames to play, headwear pieces for the penguins to wear, fish for them to eat, blowfish to roll up into snowballs and a variety of other useful things.
