In Popeye: Rush for Spinach, the Sea Hag witch has stolen the world’s supply of spinach to feed her ghosts. Players can choose to compete in a series of races within the storyline, compete in 1-on-1 races against each character on each level, race one level or compete against a human opponent.

Countless fans worldwide have embraced Popeye since his introduction to the public on Jan 17, 1929 in Thimble Theatre, Elzie Crisler Segar's then-10-year-old comic strip. Created as a minor walk-on character, Popeye quickly eclipsed the older characters in popularity and he eventually became the strip's star. With Popeye came a host of new, offbeat and famous characters, including his "goil," Olive Oyl, Swee'Pea, Bluto, Popeye's combative competitor for Olive Oyl's distracted affection, and the Sea Hag, the last true witch on earth and Popeye’s No. 1 enemy. During the Sailor Man’s 75th Anniversary year in 2004, King Features Syndicate launched its most aggressive and wide-reaching licensing, marketing and promotional program to date with a yearlong series of high-profile events designed to bolster the popularity of the world’s most famous sailor man. Headlining the campaign was “Popeye’s Voyage: The Quest for Pappy,†an all-new Popeye 3-D CGI (computer-generated imagery) animated special that was released in a DVD premiere by Lions Gate Entertainment and aired in primetime on FOX during the holiday 2004 season.
