Cell processor gets smaller

The fine folks at IBM have managed to cut down the size of the Cell processor which powers the PlayStation 3.  The new 45nm chip will require 40% less power and should take less active cooling to keep from overheating (not that this is a major problem for PS3 owners).  It's also worth noting that the chips are now less costly to produce but it's not clear when or if Sony will pass these savings onto consumers.
