If you are considering a new HD TV for your gaming rig and were looking at a Phillips brand, think again. An
article in today's New York Times talks about Phillips ceasing to manufacture TVs for sale in the U.S. and Canada. The Phillips brand has always been considered a better TV brand, but not quite to the level of Samsung or Sony. Unfortunately, Phillips has contracted with Funai (Makers of entry level brands Sylvania, Emerson and Symphonic) to make Phillip branded TVs for sale in the U.S. for at least the next five years. The bottom line is that "Phillips" TV you see at your local retailer going forward will be nothing more than a skin over an entry level model from Funai. Run away..now.
