Bear and Breakfast came sliding onto my radar last night from left field. While recording the latest episode of The Gaming Nexus Show, Ocean's Heart developer Max Mraz was chatting about lesser-known games that he saw at some of the smaller E3 showcases that perhaps the rest of us missed while we were focused on aliens and big budget explosions. Max listed Bear & Breakfast as one of the titles he felt was worth our attention. And lo, I woke up this morning to the news that Bear & Breakfast now has a demo live on Steam as part of Steam's Next Festival. Max Mraz - in addition to being a generally wonderful person - is a prophet.
Bear & Breakfast is a "laid back management-adventure game, starring furry protagonist, Hank. Hank dreams of building a bed and breakfast in the woods with his friends. As the business expands, so do the mysteries of the forest, and Hank soon finds himself uncovering a plot deeper than the wilderness itself." This sounds like just the sort of game I could fall into with my kids - who enjoy watching me play games but sometimes balk when things get all 'splodey.
There is no solid release date yet for Bear & Breakfast, but developer Gummy Cat and publisher Armor Games Studios have the game listed for 2021 on Steam, where you can also wishlist the game and check out the demo.
