How long does it take to load Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia?

Stadia has gained a lot of ground in the last couple of weeks - from releasing a slate of great new games into the Stadia Pro program to sponsoring a pile of noted streamers to demonstrate the platform's Share Play functionality. But perhaps the biggest boon for Stadia in the last month has been the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

It's not a stretch to say that Cyberpunk 2077 has released with a bit of controversy. The game was promised and delivered on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One - but in a rather undesirable state. PCs that can handle the game are faring much better - but still have to contend with a giant launch patch and a lot of setting experimentation to zero in on the optimal performance for each rig.

This has led several major outlets (Forbes, The Verge, Kotaku) to actually say out loud what I've been screaming for a year: that Stadia might actually be the best (or at least a pretty darn good) way to play Cyberpunk 2077.

One of the primary selling points of Stadia is its ease of use - you just click on a game and you start playing. But exactly how long does it take to actually get into a game of Cyberpunk on Stadia? Well, I went ahead and captured my most recent login with timestamps for posterity. Take a look:

I was able to log into Cyberpunk and get to a play state from the Google Chrome home screen in one minute and twenty-two seconds. Of course, I was fumbling around a bit when clicking buttons, so this isn't exactly scientific. And I'm sure that these results will vary depending on users' WiFi. Give it a second or two either way. But this is pretty typical of my experience playing Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia. It loads this quickly - even the first time you fire it up.

For those that have been struggling to get Cyberpunk running - or are having less-than-desirable results once they do, Stadia might be a great option for you. I probably shouldn't have to say this anymore, but no subscription is required. Just set up a Stadia account (free), buy the game (not free), and click the button.
