Elite Dangerous Horizons becomes free for all players on October 27

Frontier Developments announced some great news in relation to their long-running title Elite: Dangerous.  The Horizons update will be folded into the base game free of charge.  Whether on Xbox One, PS4, or PC, everyone will now be able to experience ground-based exploration for the first time--along with a bevy of other benefits.  Players who previously paid for this expansion aren't left out to dry either.  They'll get an Azure paint job applicable to all acquirable ships.

Between a new Fleet Carriers update in June and the announcement of a multi-arc narrative coming along the way, it's safe to say this team has been busy.  This all culminates with Elite's next ambitious update, Odyssey, set to release in 2021.  There's actually quite an interesting dev diary going into detail about those promises on the horizon too.
