Get immersed in Logitech's gaming headsets

More On:

Sound is pretty important in gaming and Logitech is looking to improve on that aspect with the availability of Immerse for more than a dozen of their gaming headsets.

Using your phone, you take a picture of your ear and then machine learning on the server creates a profile that's specific for the shape of your ear to deliver more accurate locational sound.  One of the modes is called Close Combat Mode which make sounds like punches sound closer to you.

To utilize this technology, you'll need to subscribe which can range from $2.99 a month or $14.99 a year and if you decide to pick up a 5 year subscription, it would cost you $40. I'm not sure about the subscription model though.

A few other companies do do this such as Sony for their WX1000m3 headset and more notably, Creative Labs with their Super X-Fi tech where you use your phone to generate a map of your ear and it also produces profiles tailored for you utilizing various headphones without having to subscribe. Now, Super X-Fi needs a dongle or headphones with that tech built in so you can say you're spending that money there instead of a subscription.

Either way, Immerse sounds interesting and hopefully, it makes games sound even better on their dozen or so headsets that the software supports.

Logitech G and Embody, a personalized spatial audio company, announced the immediate availability of Immerse™ for over a dozen Logitech G gaming headsets. Immerse is a new audio technology platform, that when combined with a Logitech G headset, delivers a superior in-game sound experience. A free 14-day trial is available for download today from the Embody website.

Immerse uses machine learning algorithms and data science to create a model of your auditory system from a picture of your ear taken with a mobile phone–in less than 60 seconds. With this model of your unique hearing anatomy, Immerse places location-specific sound around you, with stunning accuracy. It delivers Personalized Spatial Audio and virtually transports you in the game so you hear the precise location of your enemies or where your friends are hiding before they hear you.

“The challenge of giving spatial awareness of sound using headsets has persisted for decades. The folds and shape of the outer ear are unique to each individual and change the way we hear the sounds around us. Hence the need for a Personalized Spatial Audio solution,” said Kapil Jain, CEO of Embody. “With Immerse, it is sound crafted for you, not for the masses. We’re excited to work with Logitech G to bring this innovative technology to their gaming headset users worldwide.”

The Logitech G version of the Immerse application introduces Close Combat Mode. Close Combat mode enables gamers to pull in the sound field closer to yourself. Gamers can “feel” game sounds extremely close to your face, like punches and knife stabs, without losing on the directionality and presence of the game sounds. Games like Counter Strike, PUBG, Assassins Creed, and Fall Out where there is a fair share of gameplay close to the body will benefit from the Close Combat mode.

Paired with the unique and powerful PRO-G driver in many Logitech G headsets, these two technologies make you feel as close to being in the game as possible. Logitech G headsets faithfully reproduce the in-game sound and Embody customizes the Logitech G hardware to create a distinctive sound optimized for your individual ears.

Our goal is to provide gamers with unparalleled technology and innovation so they can be at their best at all times. Combining a Logitech G headset with the unique Immerse audio technology, gets you as close to being in the game as possible.

The following Logitech G gaming headsets are compatible with the Immerse app:.

The Immerse subscription for Logitech G includes access to the latest software releases through 3 flexible subscription models including a special monthly subscription of $2.99 for Logitech G customers; annually at $14.99; or a five-year subscription of $39.99.
