It's been about 10 years since a true Skateboarding game has been released on major platforms. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is pretty much dead at this point and EA is just refusing to give us Skate 4.
That's okay because Skater XL will soon be available on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC and it looks like this could be the skateboarding game that everyone has been clamoring years for.
I always love these kinds of games. We have seen over the years a number of games from smaller dev companies that are made because the AAA companies just won't give the fans what they want. Sim City sucked so we got Cities Skylines. Roller Coaster Tycoon is terrible now so we got Planet Coaster. We even got Stardew Valley because Harvest Moon wasn't cutting it anymore. What do all these small games have in common? They are all quality and fantastic games by smaller teams. Let's hope Skater XL can continue that trend.
