Divinity: Original Sin 2 hits the Switch, has free goodies for all platforms

"Put it on the Switch!" has become the rallying cry for an entire generation of Nintendo fans. It seems every week that some slightly aged but incredibly hot property does exactly that, making its way from PlayStations, Xboxes, and PCs onto the flagship portable console now helmed by the man wonderfully named Doug Bowser.

Add Divinity: Original Sin 2 to the put-it-on-the-Switch list. As of September 4, one of the most beloved isometric RPGs of the last few years is now hopping between millennial living rooms and rooftop parties across the globe.

Breaking into (specifically) isometric role-playing games has been tough for me. I reviewed Original Sin 2 a year ago on PS4 [giving it an 8.8 out of 10]. But that wasn't the end of the story for me. Even before I'd reviewed it, I was basically "tweeting through" my problems with not only isometric view angles, but also party-based mechanics in general. Many months later, I got an itch to keep examining my hurdles with isometric RPGs, just really having a minor crisis about the whole situation, apparently.

I don't have a Nintendo Switch, so even though Original Sin 2 features cross-saves with Steam, I won't be taking the game on the go. This might force me to give it another good ol' college try, though.

There are also some free goodies that will update to your Original Sin 2 game, even if you're playing on PS4, Xbox One, Mac, or Windows. Details after the jump. But I like that there's now a run/walk toggle. And that everybody will get Speak With Animals for free, an ability that is a must-have in Original Sin 2, a game with incredibly talkative animals—when you've got the ability to understand them.

GHENT, 2019 - Larian Studios is excited to announce that the Metacritic Must-Play RPG Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch system.

Originally released to critical acclaim on PC, Divinity: Original Sin 2 received a 93 Metacritic rating, and is currently one of only a few games to receive a 10/10 from Gamespot. It was recently awarded number one in the PC Gamer Top 100, updated for 2019.

From right now, you can start your BAFTA award-winning adventure on the Nintendo Switch and enjoy near-limitless RPG freedom, wherever you are.

For players who wish to continue their stories, Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition includes cross-saves between Nintendo Switch and Steam on PC, which means players are able to upload and download their save files and continue on the go.
