It's been a long time coming but Shenmue III: The Prophecy has finally gotten a release date and a fresh trailer. After two critically-acclaimed but underperforming games on the Dreamcast, the groundbreaking Shenmue adventure sim series was considered dead. That is until a record-smashing Kickstarter campaign was launched for a third and final entry way back at E3 2015. Since then the project has suffered numerous delays but Shenmue III is finally coming in just over a year, on August 27th, 2019. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets another delay or two, but after a lot of doubt the long-suffering Kickstarter backers at least have a firm release date for now. It looks like against all odds, Shenmue III is happening.
