So what type of game could spaz out and hit all of these markers? Ratloop Games Canada’s VROOM KABOOM, that’s what type of game. Mixing all of these elements together brings a fresh feel to VROOM KABOOM, judging by the trailer. A self-described “tower rush with vehicles”, VROOM has players collecting cards (which represent vehicles), then creating a deck to deploy into battle. Using your vehicles (which can be switched among from the cohort in your deck), you drive into combat against your enemies’ towers. There is also an element of resource gathering, but that is only slightly touched on in the press release, so it’s still a little foggy. Check out the above trailer, which breaks it down pretty well.

Additionally, there are three factions to play as, and each has unique cards to collect. There seems to be a lot of meat on these bones, which is nice if there is going to be decent online adoption of the game. Online multiplayer consists of 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 battles. The fact that the game will be released on multiple platforms, and in VR and standard modes, ought to help bolster a community to keep those online matches populated.

VROOM KABOOM release August 14 on Steam and PS4, and will playable in standard mode as well as on Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR. You can check out a more in-depth overview of the game here on the official Steam Page.
