More On: Epic Loon

Epic Loon is a dedicated couch experience, with one to four players playing in either co-op or battle mode against a series of levels inspired by VHS horror favorites. The team at Macrales Studio seem to be emphatically committed to people playing together while occupying the same physical space. From the Steam page: “Either go it alone, or play cooperatively with friends. But NOT ONLINE. You're gonna want to grab some snacks and get the empty candy wrappers off your couch, because you'll be sitting next to actual people, playing in the same place, at the same time!”

NOT ONLINE, people. Get it through your thick skulls!

The game has a really cool visual style, and openly bases its levels on some well-known Hollywood classics. Players play as tiny aliens that are set free from their home in a VHS head-cleaner tape when a guy elects to clean his VCR. The aliens bounce through scenes from different film, overcoming challenges, fighting, firing off jokes, and generally causing chaos.

Epic Loon is available today on Switch, Steam and Xbox One (a PlayStation version is planned for “later”), retailing for $14.99.
