E3 2018: Starlink: Battle for Atlus launches October 16th with Star Fox on Switch

More On: Starlink: Battle For Atlas E3 2018

Well it's been a while since we've heard about Starlink: Battle for Atlus, hasn't it? Ubisoft's toys-to-life space sim has been under wraps since last E3. Now we have a release date--October 16th--and while the game isn't a Switch exclusive anymore, Switch owners certainly have an incentive to pick the title up. Starlink will include none other than Fox McCloud in the Switch version, and his Arwing will be one of the collectible vehicles released when the game launches.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think it's awesome that Nintendo is including one of their more neglected IP's in a third party game, but I'm still not sold on Starlink's core concept. Toys-to-life is a flagging genre and outside of Nintendo's own Amiibo there just isn't much demand for it anymore. I've also wanted Nintendo to make Star Fox an open-world franchise for years, but if it has to happen via an unrelated third party release, I guess this old fan will take what he can get.
