Fatshark has announced that famed Danish composer Jesper Kyd is returning to compose the soundtrack for Vermintide 2. This isn't too surprising considering Kyd scored the original Vermintide, but it's good to know he's back in the saddle for the sequel. Kyd is known for bringing his distinctive sound to State of Decay, Borderlands and the Assassin's Creed series, and on Vermintide 2 he's using a Norse influence for the new Chaos Viking enemy faction. You can check out one of his tracks for the game below.

Danish Composer embraces Viking roots for atmospheric tribal soundtrack

Stockholm, Sweden (January 18, 2018) – Independent Swedish developer Fatshark today revealed that BAFTA award-winning Danish composer Jesper Kyd (www.jesperkyd.com) is returning to compose an original soundtrack for the sequel to the first-person melee/shooter Warhammer: The End Times - Vermintide, based on Games Workshop’s popular Warhammer Fantasy Battles world. Vermintide 2 introduces the dark, bloody and twisted Norse tribe ‘Chaos’ as an enemy faction and is headed to PC and consoles in early 2018.

Inspired by Norse mythology, Jesper Kyd’s original score for Vermintide 2 explores ancient tribal music and dark magic fantasy elements as well as evolving the raw acoustic soundscape he developed for the first game. Kyd channels his Scandinavian roots, blending Viking and Norse-inspired vocals, ritualistic percussion styles and new custom-made instruments built specifically for Vermintide 2, to create another unique soundtrack experience.
