Nightmares from the Deep looks so bad it's good

Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart looks so bad it's just might very well be good.

Scuba divers happen upon water-logged corpses. "I think it's a little weird," says a valley girl voice. "But I think visitors will be amazed." A dead pirate tells a tale from a museum display, this pirate presumably exhumed from beneath one of the seven seas.

There's a reference to a "Professor Holmes," which is an obvious homage to 19th century detective wonder, Sherlock Holmes. There's a ghost ship plowing into the museum--which looks pretty good. Then a woman with a heart necklace and blond highlights getting snatched by the dead pirate. Then I think go backwards down a rockslide into the water, with some other long-dead dude clutching a treasure chest like it's The Lord of the Rings. Also, there's a big ol' skull island looking like Castle Grayskull in the tropics. Well, that's what I can glean from the trailer. Here's an official description from developer Artifex Mundi:

You are a museum owner pursuing an undead pirate who kidnapped your daughter. You quickly realize that the villain is entangled in a tragic, centuries-old love story, and wants to resurrect his mistress with the girl's life force. You will leave the modern museum quickly, and find your way to rundown pirate settings, all of them three centuries old. Since the time of the golden age of piracy, the locations have become neglected, deserted and overgrown with plants. Full moon, bones laying on the ground, and a skull-shaped rock add to the dark atmosphere of the mysterious island. Will you dare to lift the curse?

It crosses the threshold of bad and into terrible...and then circles all the way back around to good again. Such pulpy madness. I have to see where this goes.

Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart is coming to PlayStation 4. Who knows when.
