Xbox lands the ultimate media app: Plex

If you don’t know what Plex is, I highly recommend that you go look into it now. Plex is a piece of freemium software that allows you to set up and access a media server for all of your personal movies, music, and photos. You can even share your personal server with friends and access it from various devices such as smart phones and tablets or via a web browser. I use it regularly on my tablet and on my television via Google Chrome, and starting today I will be accessing it from my Xbox systems.

The Plex Blog revealed that an official Plex app is being released for both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360. It will be available tomorrow on the Xbox One and in the very near future for the older 360. The app has been completely designed for the new platform including full voice controls via Kinect.

This is definitely a great addition to the Xbox’s library of entertainment applications!
