Ubisoft delays Anno and unnamed new IP

Ubisoft released some rather outstanding sales figures today, but buried within the report was the nugget that two of their newest franchises would be pushed out to the 2009-2010 financial year. The recently acquired Anno franchise (came aboard with Sunflower purchase last year) and an unnamed new franchise were both pushed out due in "view of the good first-half trends and the positive outlook for the third quarter" according to the release. I guess that makes sense when you are trying to level your sales figures over the entire 12 month period, but maybe they should have thought of that while cramming Far Cry 2, Prince of Persia, Shaun White, Rayman Raving Rabbids 3 and Tom Clancy's EndWar into the remainder of the 3rd Qtr 2008-2009 financial year.

"In view of the good first-half trends and the positive outlook for the third quarter, Ubisoft has decided that Anno™ as well as the as-yet unannounced franchise which were previously scheduled to be released in 2008-09 will now bolster the line-up for 2009-10."
