Phoenix Online Publishing announces 2014 lineup, includes spiritual sequel to Gabriel Knight

More On: The Silver Lining Moebius

Phoenix Online Publishing — whose logo looks a leetle beet too much like the University of Phoenix logo — is a new indie publisher: by indie developers, for indie developers. They've announced their 2014 lineup of story-driven games. Some of these are real eye openers.

Moebius is a paranormal, puzzle-solving thriller by Jane Jensen, creator of the Gabriel Knight series and co-designer of King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow.

Quest for Infamy is a roguish role-playing game with art that looks right at home in the golden age of '90s adventure games, and comely lasses ready to bust out of their bustiers.

The Last Door is an 8-bit dream — or nightmare, rather — taking a Lovecraftian walk through a point-and-click horror.

Ancient civilization and alien life come to a head in point-and-click puzzler, Lost Civilization. Travel from London to Prague in search of your kidnapped fiance.

Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller takes the title heroin and her post-cognitive abilities into four FBI cases. Jane Jensen served as a story consultant.

Citing author Raymond Chandler as a major influence, Face Noir is a moody, point-and-click adventure where you play a detective accused of the murder of a little girl.

The Silver Lining is a completely free point-and-clicker that, according to Roberta Williams, creator of the King's Quest series, uses many storylines and characters from the King's Quest series.

Are you kidding me? There's a free, labor-of-love entry in the King's Quest library? What was I doing in 2010 to have completely missed this one? Like I said, there's some real eye openers here. I'm adding at least of two of these to my watch list.
