The title of this competition made the pit of my stomach sink for a second, but reading on clarified matters.  Namco Bandai announced a "Military vs. Civilians" online team tournament for Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation.  Co-hosted by the Global Gaming League, the tournament is pitting active-duty U.S. military against civilian gamers in this aerial combat onliner.  Registration is on now over at the Global Gaming League site (www.ggl.com).

NAMCO BANDAI Games Announces “Military vs. Civilians” Online Team Tournament for Ace Combat® 6: Fires of Liberation™

 

NAMCO BANDAI Games today announced a “Military vs. Civilians” online team tournament for Ace Combat® 6: Fires of Liberation™, its upcoming flight action game for the Xbox 360™. Co-hosted by the Global Gaming League, the tournament will allow active members of the U.S. Military to test their skills against civilian gamers in the game’s high-flying online aerial combat.

 

Registration is currently underway for civilian and military gamers at the official Global Gaming League website (www.ggl.com). The tournament will begin on November 5, with two player teams of civilians and military members competing in ladder-based rounds to reach the finale in New York City which will be televised on the Gameplay HD TV television network. At the broadcast finale, Team Battle matches will take place to decide the final winning team as well as the winning teams for each bracket. Finally, a Battle Royale match will take place to decide the best individual ace from both brackets. The overall winner will take home $5,000; with runners-up on both sides receiving more than $10,000 in total prizes, including Xbox 360 Elite consoles, signed Ace Combat 6 memorabilia, ACE-EDGE™ Flight Stick bundles and more.

 

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation for the Xbox 360 will ship to retail stores nationwide on October 23 for a suggested retail price of $59.99. A limited-edition version of the game, which includes a custom Xbox 360 faceplate and original ACE-EDGE flight stick will launch on the same day for a suggested retail price of $149.99.
