DmC Devil May Cry dated

by: Dan - - Add a Comment
Catching back up with your old friend Dante will result in a wait until the new year.  Capcom announced earlier this evening that the release date for DmC Devil May Cry for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will be on January 15th, 2013.  The PC version is also under development, but will not hit until later in the year.  If you are a bit bummed at the extended wait, you can always go back and check out the trailers that have been released so far.  Otherwise, I am sure we will hear plenty about the game, as it will be one of the featured titles in Capcom’s booth at E3 in a couple of weeks.  Also, here are three looks at Kat in some new screens:

If it’s in the game, it’s in the game…even if “it” belongs to a backup QB

Well, the folks at EA have once again added a new wrinkle to Madden that falls in line with their famous slogan.  According to the Twitter account of Michael Young, Madden NFL Creative Director at EA Sports, Tebowing will be in Madden NFL 13.  There isn't any follow up tweets yet on the topic from Young, so it is unknown if this will be a Tim Tebow specific move, or if you can Tebow at any time.  Like Steven Tulloch of the Detroit Lions did last year after sacking Tebow in a game at Denver.

Anyways, I am sure this will generate plenty of buzz and be addressed via  video or Q&A from EA Sports or the Madden Team.  In the meantime, let the hype for the most overrated NFL athlete in league history continue to churn.

The road to NHL 13 continues

by: Mike - - Add a Comment
The newest features for NHL 13 have been revealed, promising to make the hockey experience more engrossing than ever. Several new additions are being implemented to ensure that players gain the most out of the next installment of the series.

True Performance Skating: A new physics-based skating system that adds over 1000 animations to the movements of the players, as well as the explosiveness, agility, and speed of today’s NHL players.

EA Sports Hockey IQ: A new A.I. system that increases the decision-making realism of each individual player on the ice, ensuring that every player reacts to the plays regardless of whether they are in the proximity of the puck or not.

GM Connected: Think fantasy NHL league. Except with your friends, in your own 30-team league in NHL 13. Be a GM mode is brought into the social realm as you can compete, draft, and play against your friends with your own team.

Aliens: Colonial Marines reveals release date

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
Well it seemed like maybe it was never going to happen, but today SEGA gave us a release date for the Gearbox Software (Brothers in Arms, Borderlands) developed videogame entry in the fully canonized Aliens universe.  Aliens: Colonial Marines is set for release on February 12, 2013.

Picking up after the events of Aliens, the Colonial Marines return to the site of the film's slaughter and quickly find themselves wishing they just went to dental school like their mothers' wanted.  Seriously, of all the games with space marines, Aliens: Colonial Marines features what must be the least glamorous.  There's no saving the universe, or even saving the planet; they're simply trying not to get ripped to shreds by vicious phallus monsters with acid-blood.

Now enjoy watching said space marines get ripped to shreds by vicious phallus monsters with acid-blood.  (And yes, I know that they're actually called xenomorphs, but has any movie alien ever had a duller name than "xenomorph?")

Darksiders 2: Death Strikes again

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
Last week, we told you about Death's story.  Today we've got Death kicking ass with the aid of his mythological scythe and horse.  Darksiders 2 will take players on a journey with Death as he tries to clear his brother's name.  I think we can assume Darksiders 2 will be the same mix of hack-n-slash combat with puzzle ideas ripped from the pages of gaming's past as the first one.

Quantum Conundrum kicks off its PSA series

by: Sean Colleli - - Add a Comment
Quadrwangle Productions and Square-Enix have a pretty clever way of marketing their upcoming dimension-shifting action platformer, Quantum Conundrum. As you might have heard the game is being designed by Kim Swift, team lead on Portal, but the game is also being advertised with retro PSA-style videos that resemble old videotape recovered from the 90s or something. The first video goes into the concept of time, how it is relative, and how that all goes out the window once you get full control over time in the game.

I'm really curious about this one. I love dimension-twisting puzzlers like the stuff in Portal, but I quickly tired of GlaDOS and her passive-aggressive whining constantly interrupting the puzzles. In any case, these games show what is possible when developers think outside the ultra-realistic CoD-box and realize "this is video game land. I'm not constrained by the laws of physics. I can do whatever the hell I want."

Although Agent 47, the returning protagonist of Hitman: Absolution is not exactly mentioned, the suspicious band-aid that the bald culprit is sporting in the screen shot below suggest the death was far from an accident…

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and GUNNAR bundle

by: Mike - - Add a Comment
From May 22 until June 5, Best Buy will be offering a $40 discount on Ghost Recon: Future Soldier when purchased in a bundle with select GUNNAR eyewear sets. A limited edition Future Soldier set will allow for interchangeable temples to celebrate the partnership further.

The eyewear supposedly reduces eye strain, which could be helpful for addicting games that require extended play time, so for Tom Clancy fanatics, these glasses could be just the thing for the upcoming release from Ubisoft.

Road to NHL 13 part 2

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
Earlier this week, I showed you Road to NHL 13 part 1.  Now we have Road to NHL 13 part 2.  It asks you to remember the first time real physics found their way into EA Sports's venerable hockey franchise (and allegedly, all sports games) way back in in NHL 11.

Also today, EA Sports revealed these big new features that will appear in NHL 13:
  • True Performance Skating – A game-changing innovation for the franchise that adds physics-driven skating and over 1000 new animations. True Performance Skating authentically replicates the explosiveness, momentum and top end speed displayed by today’s NHL players. True Performance Skating combined with the Skill Stick, finally gives gamers access to the entire toolset of an NHL player, delivering unprecedented control and unlocking a level of creativity never before possible in a hockey videogame.
  • EA SPORTS Hockey I.Q. – An innovative new A.I. system that governs the behaviors of players, goalies and team systems. In previous NHL games, players were only aware of skaters in their immediate proximity and goalies could only react to the player in control of the puck. With EA SPORTS Hockey I.Q., all players are now fully aware of every other player on the ice, resulting in quicker, smarter and more true-to-life decision-making. EA SPORTS Hockey IQ also delivers the deepest and most customizable set of real-world hockey systems and strategies ever for the franchise.
  • GM Connected – The ultimate fantasy league with friends. GM Connected takes the franchise’s most popular offline mode, Be a GM, and allows you to play with and against your friends in your own 30-team NHL. Whether you are a hardcore sports gamer or a hockey fan that moonlights as an armchair general manager, the mode offers unrivaled accessibility and depth by allowing players to manage, play or coach on the road to building your team’s legacy. GM’s can also take their experience with them with a mobile companion app, ensuring that they never miss a single moment.*
  • NHL Moments Live – Rewrite or relive history as you replay some of the most thrilling moments from today’s NHL. NHL 13 evolves the concept introduced by other sports games, introducing each scenario with real-world NHL footage to bring players closer to the intensity of the moment. Moments from the 2011-12 NHL season will ship on disc and new moments from the 2012-13 NHL season will be added as and when available throughout the season.
And the reveal-ride isn't over yet.  Also today, EA Sports has reveled the NHL 13 Stanley Cup Collector's Edition that's available for pre-order.  For $79.99 you get a collectible Stanley Cup tin embossed with an image of the Stanley Cup, Two Stanley Cup Theme Hockey Ultimate Team packs featuring randomized stars from the two Conference Champions, a Gold Jumbo Hockey Ultimate Team Pack with 24 randomized items including a Gretzky Hockey Ultimate Team Legend and six other rare items, A CCM Boost Pack with the new CCM RBZ stick, a 10% discount on one purchase from shop.NHL.com, and, of course, a copy of NHL 13.

PREVIEW: Dragon's Dogma ushers in a new era for Capcom

by: Jeremy - - Add a Comment
We are just a few short days away from the release of Capcom’s new game Dragon’s Dogma. This new title is quite a bit different than what fans have come to expect from the Japanese developer. Truth be told, Capcom’s bold new IP just might be a step in the right direction. I have spent the last couple of days with the public demo of the game and have to admit that I am thoroughly impressed and as I am about to tell you, you might be too when the game hits the shelves next week.

Borderlands 2's special editions are worthy of a true vault hunter

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
The treasure hunter in all of us should be appropriately piqued with the announcement of Borderlands 2's two different special editions.

The first is called the Deluxe Vault Hunter's Collector's Edition.  It features the usual artbook (Inside the Vault: The Art and Design of Borderlands 2), a map of Pandora, collectible stickers, codes to download a digital comic and all the usual bonus in-game content, and best of all, a bobblehead of everyone's favorite arms dealer/bus driver Marcus Kincaid.  The retail price is listed at a healthy $99.99.

The Ultimate Loot Chest Edition takes the "loot chest" in its name literally.  Along with a scale model of the classic Borderlands red treasure chest, you'll get everything in the Deluxe Vault Hunter's Collector's Edition PLUS a wildlife identification chart, lithograph postcard set, Sir Hammerlock's field notes, a numbered certificate of authenticity, and a steel book case for your copy of Borderlands 2.  That beauty will run you a hefty $149.99.

Borderlands 2 is set to come out on September 18th.

DiRT Showdown delayed

by: Mike - - Add a Comment
The original release date of Codemasters' DiRT Showdown was scheduled for May 29, but has been pushed back to June 12.

Developer Codemasters and Warner Bros both believe the new release date will attract a larger audience and provide a clearer release window for the game

The PC version of the game, however, is unaffected by the change and retains its May 29 release date on Steam.

City Of Gangsters lights up Xbox 360 this fall

by: Nathan - - Add a Comment
The turned based warfare of Omerta - City of Gangsters will be shooting its way onto Xbox 360 this fall. Originally slated for a PC release, Kalypso Media has announced today that the game will also be appearing on the 360 in Autumn and will bring the same strategy gameplay and snitch whacking brutality to the console version.

In this game you'll manage your gangs as "the boss" along with building an empire by taking over businesses, erecting buildings, illegal fight clubs, and much more. You also have the ability to fire bomb the buildings of enemy gangs. Now that sounds awesome. This game is absolutely on my radar now

This Lollipop Chainsaw "special edition" video must be seen to be believed.

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
I've never seen a videogame trailer so full of wrong before.  Now we've already shown you enough Lollipop Chainsaw videos for you to be aware of the sensibilities the game trades in, but rest assured anyway, it's the good kind of "wrong;" you know, the kind that makes you say, "Man, that's so wrong.  I want some of what they're smoking," instead of, "That's wrong, no one should be able to do that."

The basic premise is that the new special edition of Lollipop Chainsaw now includes some sort of life-size, fully controllable Juliet flesh-bot that can do "whatever you want it to (wink, wink)."  It then descends into full blown NSFW territory.  So make sure your boss isn't looking and/or your children are "in the other room" and have a look.  If you're already okay with watching a Lollipop Chainsaw video, then there's zero chance you're part of the, "That's wrong, no one should be able to do that" crowd."

Lollipop Chainsaw comes out this June.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater: HD getting Levels from Tony Hawk 3 via DLC

by: Nathan - - Add a Comment
DLC is coming to the soon to be released Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD and with it will come levels from in my opinion the best Tony Hawk game ever, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3.

I have so many memories of me and my friends passing the controller around playing this game at 3AM until my friends father yelled at us to go to bed.

The best part of this news is that Activision, Robomodo and the man himself Tony Hawk want you the fans to let them know what levels you want. What do I want? They have to put the airport in there. To give feedback on what levels you want make sure you visit their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TonyHawksProSkaterHD and/or tell them via twitter @TonyHawksPSHD.

THPS:HD will be released this summer on PSN and XBLA for $15 but the release date and pricing of the DLC hasnt been determined yet.

Now there is still a question I have that will determine my purchase of this. Will the game have the original soundtracks? Because if not then ZERO BUYS! This is the same reason I refuse to buy Crazy Taxi on PSN or XBLA. I don't care if you don't have the rights to the song anymore, GET THEM AGAIN! These soundtracks were just as important to these games as the gameplay. They made the game. Imagine if they re-released Super Mario Brothers, Doom, or Mortal Kombat 2 today but all the levels had different music. It just wouldnt be the same.

I better hear this blasting through my speakers the SECOND I start the first level
