by: Mike - - Add a Comment
Sam Fisher and Isaac Briggs have their work cut out for them in Splinter Cell: Blacklist's newest trailer.

Ubisoft's cooperative trailer shows off the ways the duo can interact and cover each other's backs via stealth tactics. Players' progress as both characters will be tied into cooperative and single-player modes alike, creating a persistent experience across the whole of Splinter Cell: Blacklist. The Strategic Mission Interface allows players to unlock new weapons and items through experience earned.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist releases August 20 for Xbox 350 PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC.

Check out the trailer below for a look at Splinter Cell: Blacklist's cooperative mode.

First trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins and information about the Deathstroke pre-order pack.

by: Nathan - - Add a Comment
I've heard mixed thoughts from fans about Batman: Arkham Origins. Some love the idea and want to discover the origins of our favorite caped crime fighter, while others want the story to continue and couldn't care less about his origins. In any case Batman: Arkham Origins is coming later this year and we have the first trailer for you along with information about the Deathstroke pack for people who pre-order.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be going back in time several years before the events of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Gotham City's most dangerous criminals are on their rise to power and a young and inexperienced Batman faces defining moments on his way to becoming The Dark Knight.

Those who pre-order the game will also get early access to the Deathstroke pack. The Deathstroke pack will contain Deathstroke as a playable character for challenge maps, two additional challenge maps and two alternate Deathstroke skins.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be released worldwide on October 25th for the 360, PS3, Wii-U, and PC's. The game will release along with Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita.

Some other good news is that it appears Kevin Conroy will be back to voice Batman in Arkham Origins. I know a lot of people were disappointed when they learned he wouldn't return.

Be sure to check out the trailer below!

Now Loading for the week of May 20, 2013: Better Late Than Never Edition

by: Jeremy - - Add a Comment
The moral of this week’s story is everything old being new again, or various systems getting caught up with the times. There are a lot of re-releases and updated ports hitting the market this week including the return of Donkey Kong Country, and HD version of the 3DS Resident Evil, and the Wii U getting a couple of titles a few months late. Not everything is familiar though so take your pick from the long list of games launching this week.

My picks for the week include:

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D: Rave reviews have been pouring in for this 3DS port of the now-classic Wii title Donkey Kong Country Returns. This is an updated port of the Wii game from 2010 which was an original adventure, not an update to the SNES classic. Once again, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are out to stop the theft of bananas on their island. The game has been credited with being an incredibly challenging platformer that pays great homage to the genre and sets the standard for future ones. If you own a 3DS, you will definitely want to pick this one up.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Action RPG fans have a treat coming to the PC this week with NeocoreGames’ The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. The game is perhaps best compared to Torchlight, as I mentioned in my recent preview, but has plenty to love in its own right. This is an exciting adventure that you can experience alone or with up to four friends cooperatively. Between loot gathering, experimenting with the game’s alchemy system, and an engaging world that is a combination of steampunk and goth-noir, this one should keep you busy for a long, long time

Resident Evil Revelations: Wow, this is a new concept: an HD port of a portable game! That is exactly what Capcom has done with the former 3DS-exclusive entry in the Resident Evil series. Revelations has gotten the full HD-makeover for its outing on the home consoles including updated visuals, Achievement / Trophy support, and at least on the Wii U, a plethora of new features that make use of the Wii U’s unique control pad. The reviews have been positive thus far, including our own (Wii U, PC), and the reception of the original was much higher than that of Resident Evil 6.

Five seconds of Call of Duty: Ghosts

by: John - - Add a Comment
In two days, you'll see the full preview of Call of Duty: Ghosts along with the reveal of the next Xbox. For now, you can check out five seconds of the game as a work in progress. A lot of what you'll see are wireframe models and a quick shot of the dev tools that are used to create a character. While not too much, it's there to whet your appetite for more but thankfully it's just a few days away. You can check out the Vine video here.

Kevin Conroy back as the voice of Batman for Arkham Origins?

by: John - - Add a Comment
There have been reports that the most famous voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, wouldn't be back to voice the titular character in Batman: Arkham Origins. That had some fans a tad bit disappointed.

Well, that may not be true. Kevin was at the Dallas Comic Con over the weekend and he had a panel. During the panel, he says that he IS going to be voicing Batman for Arkham Origins. Now, there's no official word yet, but if it comes from the voice actor himself, you can probably take that to the bank. Check out Kevin himself talking about the game.

Now Playing: System Shock FUSE Edition

by: Randy - - Add a Comment
GeoGuessr, a Google Experiment using Google Street View, has people getting lost and found all over the globe. Among the Sleep, an indie horror game played through the eyes of a two-year-old, went into open alpha on Tuesday, nabbing its $200,000 Kickstarter along the way. But with System Shock 2 hitting Steam this week, Gaming Nexus is gaming like it's 1999.

What are you playing this weekend?

Russell Archey | staff writer | Twitter @neoscyther
I got System Shock 2 last week and have enjoyed it so far, except for those stupid monkeys that my wrench never seem to hit, but that may be my own fault (and yes, I was crouching). As much as I try to take a break from it, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim keeps drawing me in.  The good news though is that I'm near 100 in smithing, which was my last goal before taking on the final set of quests, so hopefully I'll be able to finish this one up this week and can finally move onto something else.

Nathaniel Cohen | staff writer | Twitter @seven_hells
I'd never played System Shock 2, but now that I'm just about finished with it, I have to say that while I love the complexity of the gameplay, I miss the complexity of the story. I sort of expected System Shock 2 to have a BioShock-style story, but it's actually really bare bones, and the twist--even though I knew about it beforehand (doesn't everyone at this point?)--seems extra obvious. I would love a BioShock game with the stats and character building of System Shock 2. Also, I’m about to fire up Freespace 2 for the first time. Wish me luck, guys.

Sean Colleli | staff writer
I knew it would happen, but I'm completely sucked in by System Shock 2 again. It's great to finally have such a classic on Steam, and it reminds me why I was just a bit disappointed by all the BioShock games. Ken Levine seems more focused on making games with really complicated stories, instead of really complex gameplay, which is fine, but it's cool and a little sad that Irrational will never match the depth and terror of System Shock 2 again.

Jeremy Duff | senior staff writer | Twitter @duff3c
Things are finally slowing down for my game life this weekend. In addition to fitting in a few rounds of Injustice: Gods Among Us where I can, I will be getting my co-op on with Mike Mahardy in some FUSE.

Charles Husemann | editor in chief | Twitter @chusemann
My gameplay this weekend will be another edition of Farm Simulator: Suburban Edition as I finally get around to buying and planting new plants in my garden. Will probably work a bit on MechWarrior Online and resist the siren call of Metro: Last Light.

Randy Kalista | staff writer | Twitter @randykalista
Last week's dip into the Xbox Indie pool refreshed me, so I'm cannonballing back in. Zoning out on the clink of quarters jangling down the coin slot in Arcadecraft. Fighting my three-year-old for control of the gamepad on the Atari Breakout-like Wizorb. And nodding my head knowingly to DLC Quest which, despite being a couple years old, might still be the funniest commentary on modern gaming since.

Mike Mahardy | staff writer | Twitter @mmahardy
I'll be playing FUSE with Jeremy. Now that Metro: Last Light is out, I might replay a few of my favorite levels throughout the game between rounds of Injustice: Gods Among Us and Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

Lords of the Fallen coming to PC and next-gen consoles

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
Tomasz Gop, whose name may recognize from the credits for The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, is the lead developer on Lords of the Fallen for City Interactive.  Lords of the Fallen is a, just unveiled, fantasy action-RPG that is both "demanding" and "strategic."  It's scheduled for release on PC and next-gen consoles in 2014.

Players will assume the role of Harkyn as he stands against a seemingly unbeatable supernatural entity.  Right now, most of the details are unspecific, however, Lords of the Fallen is going to introduced to the world at large at this year's E3 Expo that runs from June 11 to June 13 in Los Angeles.  Hopefully, at that point we'll get some concrete details.

Until then, you can visit www.cigames.com and Lords of the Fallen on Facebook to learn more.

Razer announces their Xbox 360 fighting stick called the Atrox

by: John - - Add a Comment
Razer has been looking at creating an arcade style fighting stick for the Xbox 360 and today they've finally unveiled it after many months of R&D. The Razer Atrox Arcade Stick is the result of many rounds of testing with enthusiasts to develop a truly high performance stick.

Featuring Sanwa components, there are 10 high quality and very responsive buttons paired up with an eight-way joystick. The stick can be outfitted with both a ball or bat configuration. All the internals are accessible and can be modified by those that wish to. Also, the top panel can be changed with other designs.

It's got a nice 13 foot cord and includes a 2.5mm audio jack should you want to connect a headset to it to chat on Xbox Live. The inside also doubles as storage to hold spare parts and what not.

The Atrox will be available for pre-order on May 21 for a price of $200.

Tons of DLC coming to Injustice: Gods Among Us next week

by: Nathan - - Add a Comment
The amazing DLC for the amazing Injustice: Gods Among Us continues next week and you have the opportunity to download a plethora of content.

So for next week you can expect...

Batgirl - $4.99 or free if you have the seasons pass.

Luchador Bane - Free with the Batgirl compatibility pack.

Killing Joke Pack - $2.99. Three skins for The Joker based on the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." You get Tourist Joker, Final Confrontation Joker and Red Hood Joker.

Red Sons Pack - This was a free DLC add-on if you pre-ordered the game at Gamestop. If you didn't it will be available next week and includes skins for Superman, Solomon Grundy and Wonder Woman. No price has been announced yet.

I will admit i'm not really a fan of DC Comics. Not that I dislike them, but its hard for me to find a starting point to start reading considering there are decades of content to have to go through. With that being said, I absolutely LOVE Injustice: Gods Among Us. I recently added Solomon Grundy and his brutal chain combos to my arsenal along with Green Arrow, Harley Quinn and Hawkgirl. I'll probably pick up Batgirl and see what she can do.

Ride to Hell: Route 666 "Rockthrough" trailer

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
Get it?  "Rockthrough" instead of "walkthrough" because of rock-and-roll and America, I guess.

However, maybe they should just have called it the trailer that convinces you Ride to Hell: Route 666 is the next best thing you're ever going to get to Road Rash reboot.  It's got motorcycles, and hitting people on motorcycles so Road Rash, obviously. It's also got squads, guns, classes, and something called "strategy."  Am I saying that right?  There's even a "medic" so it's Team Fortress on motorcycles AND Road Rash.  Wow.

Long story short: you kill the other team of bikers faster than they kill you.  Ride to Hell: Route 666 is out later this summer and will be available for download on Xbox Live and the PSN.  For full details, follow the jump.

PS3 and PC gamers getting Black Ops 2 Uprising DLC today

by: Nathan - - Add a Comment
PS3 and PC gamers unfortunately have to wait about a month before they get new Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 DLC, but today, they wait no longer as they get the "Uprising" DLC pack.

The Uprising DLC pack includes four brand new maps for multiplayer and a new map for Zombies mode.

The maps include...

Magma – Set within a modern Japanese village, volcanic eruptions carve multiple paths throughout the town.
Encore – Taking place in the aftermath of a deserted London music festival, Encore leaves numerous opportunities for run-and-gun, close quarters combat.
Vertigo – A futuristic high-rise mega-structure located in India featuring dizzying vistas and multi-tiered pathways.
Studio – A contemporary re-imagining of “Firing Range,” the fan-favorite multiplayer map from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.  “Studio” is a Hollywood movie back lot with a variety of cinematic themes that range from Sci-Fi to the Old West.

The map pack also includes "Mob Of The Dead" where four Prohibition-era mobsters (Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Chazz Palminteri and Joe Patoliano) attempt to escape the infamous Alcatraz. Needless to say it's probably easier said than done.

The map pack will be free if you have the seasons pass. Otherwise it will be $14.99.

New GRID 2 "World Series Racing 3: Asian - New Frontiers" trailer

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
This new GRID 2 trailer takes us to Asia where drifting and Honda Accords that can reach the speed of sound are the norm (Hey, that's true.  I saw it on the Internet, so it has to be).

But seriously, the trailer shows off the cars, clubs, and locations of GRID 2's Asia region, which now includes Hong Kong.

To learn more, follow the jump.  Also make sure you visit GRID on Facebook, Twitter, and at www.gridgame.com.  And while you're at it, share the love with Codemasters on at www.codemasters.com, Twitter, and Facebook.

Batman's awkward period is showcased in this Arkham Origins teaser

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
Okay, well he doesn't look that awkward as he fends off a multitude of attacks while looking as boss as ever, but Batman: Arkham Origins is set during an earlier phase of his masked vigilante career so I'd imagine at some point we'll see him do something very un-Batman like or even something flat out stupid.

Maybe he'll accidentally batarang himself in his "bat" area, or not save an old lady because he was playing Xbox or something.

That kind of stuff is not in this teaser trailer, however.  This teaser trailer shows him facing off against Deathstroke and looking like a proper Batman.  Keep an eye out for the full trailer on May 20.

DARK shows off more vampiric skills

by: Sean Colleli - - Add a Comment
Do you want a new DARK trailer? Of course you do! Kalypso has some new gameplay from their upcoming "if Sam Fisher was a vampire" title, showing off more of the unique predator of the night skills you can employ. Obviously you can suck your victims' blood to regain health, but DARK is first and foremost a stealth game, so you can also confuse, stun or hypnotize your enemies to sneak past unnoticed, or sneak up behind them for a quick lunch.

New TMNT Out of the Shadows trailer featuring Raphael

by: Sean Colleli - - Add a Comment
TMNT Out of the Shadows just keeps looking better with every new trailer Red Fly Studios releases. This time they're showing off Raphael. Raph was always my favorite turtle because he had the whole Brooklyn attitude going on, and his sais were unconventional and cool weapons. In the new game he has a pretty brutal, MMA-style fighting technique that is appropriate for his no-nonsense personality. While the Michael Bay TMNT reboot continues to sound like a disaster in the making, at least the unrelated Red Fly game is looking very good.

First printing of The Art of BioShock Infinite sold out in stores

by: Travis - - Add a Comment
Dark Horse Comics has announced that recently-published The Art of BioShock Infinite has sold out of its first printing. However, there is good news for fans that weren't able to buy the book yet as a second printing of copies will be available on July 3. It was only last week when I reported that Dark Horse's Dragon Age: The World of Thedas art book had sold out and was also receiving a second printing.

With an introduction from Creative Director Ken Levine, the hardcover book explores the city of Columbia and its inhabitants in addition to the main characters such as Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth. Fortunately, the time until July 3 can be spent playing the highly-praised BioShock Infinite that's available now on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.

Wolfenstein: New Order screenshots

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
If Doom is the grandfather of first-person shooters, then Wolfenstein is the weird uncle who spends all his time in a bath robe and dives on the floor whenever there's a loud noise.

And now that weird uncle makes a return to the gaming universe with Wolfenstein: The New Order.  It's set to hit in Q4 of this year for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and next generation consoles.  And unless these screenshots were generated by some Nazi techno-sorcery futurism, Wolfenstein: The New Order is shaping up to look fantastic.

Also, there something called a Panzerhund in it.  For those of you not familiar with German, or WWII, that translates to "tank dog."  Based on the screens, I'd say that's as cool as it sounds.

NBA 2K14 takes to the court on October 1

by: Jeremy - - Add a Comment
2K Sports has announced that they will launch the next installment in the best basketball series on the planet on October 1, 2013. The NBA 2K14 release date was officially announced in an investor release. This isn’t very shocking as the game has launched at the beginning of October in past years. What remains a mystery at the moment is which platforms we can expect the game to land on. It is pretty obvious that we will see both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions at the least, but your guess is as good as mine if we will see next generation and / or portable versions announced as well.
