E3 2012: Need For Speed: Most Wanted races back onto the streets this Fall

by: Nathan - - Add a Comment
If you watched any of the E3 press conferences today you probably saw Need For Speed: Most Wanted. Criterion Games makers of Burnout Paradise is set to re-imagine the Need For Speed: Most Wanted franchise (for like the 5th time it seems). This reboot of the Need For Speed: Most Wanted franchise will allow players to drive around an open world and choose the path they want to take. Players can discover hidden secrets, challenge rivals, challenge friends, or troll the cops. Everything you do will count towards your goal of becoming #1 on your own personal Most Wanted List.

To me this sounds like Burnout Paradise combined with the cops from Need For Speed: Most Wanted and you know what? Thats not a bad thing.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted will be released on October 30th 2012 for 360, PS3, Vita, PC, iOS and Android

Check out the press release for all the info.  [READ MORE]

Nintendo DSi and DSi XL get a little cheaper

by: Nathan - - Add a Comment
If you are one of the few who have missed out on a Nintendo DS then now may be the time to pick one up. Nintendo has announced that effective May 20th, both the Nintendo DSi XL and the Nintendo DSi will both be getting price drops.

The Nintendo DSi will be dropping to $99.99 while the DSi XL will be dropping to $129.99

Something that should be taken into consideration is that if you buy a DSI XL it will come pre-installed with games and applications including Brain Age Express Arts & Letters and Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock

In my opinion if you don't have a DS yet then you are missing out on a gigantic library of amazing games including one of my favorite games of all time 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors.

Last chance to snag 3D Classics: Kid Icarus when pre-ordering Kid Icarus: Uprising

by: Russell - - Add a Comment
Back at the beginning of the month I made a post stating that if you pre-order Kid Icarus: Uprising at Amazon.com, Best Buy, or GameStop, you'll be able to get a code for a free download of 3D Classics: Kid Icarus emailed to you, presumably when the game launches or shortly thereafter.  Well, with the release date of 3/23, today would be your last chance to pre-order the game and get your free code for 3D Classics: Kid Icarus.  If you've never played Kid Icarus on the NES, it's a fun game and definitely worth checking out.  Just don't expect it to be too easy.  It is an NES game afterall.

March Madness, Madden-style

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment
It seems like it was only yesterday that Madden 12 was predicting the outcome of the Superbowl almost down to the final score. But that was last season.  Now Madden NFL 13 is here and ready to dominate the world; and they're starting with something so quintessentially March that it would seem strange to do it any other month: the large-scale bracketed tournament.

But it's not teams competing, it's players.  That's right, it's time for you to vote on Madden NFL 13's cover athlete.

The nominees are, by team:

Brian Orakpo vs. Ryan Kerrigan

Starting today and running through March 21, you can visit the Sportsnation Facebook page to vote.

To learn more, follow the jump or visit EA Sports and Madden NFL on the web.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and decide whether to vote for Andy Dalton or A.J. Green...

Get Reshiram and Zekrom for Pokemon Black and White

by: Russell - - Add a Comment
Beginning March 10th, gamers who own Pokemon Black or Pokemon White can get one of two Legendary Pokemon: Reshiram for Pokemon White and Zekrom for Pokemon Black.  It appears that all you have to do is just have access to the Nintendo Wi-fi connection, as I'm not seeing anything about taking the game to a local participating retailer like Gamestop or anything.  You can also use the legendary Pokemon you receive to unlock exclusive content at the Pokemon Global Link (www.pokemon.com/pgl) and get a C-Gear skin that matches the Pokemon you receive.

Now I recall when I got the three legendary dogs (Entei, Raikou, and Suicune) a while back that they were level 50 or so and had some nice moves.  Reshiram and Zekrom on the other hand are level 100.  Yes, level 100.  For more info on how to obtain the legendary Pokemon and what all moves and such come with them, check out the official web site for the event.  Keep in mind that the event runs through April 8th.  Time for me to break out my copy of Pokemon Black and dust it off.

Pre-order Kid Icarus: Uprising at Best Buy and get a free code for 3D Classics: Kid Icarus

by: Russell - - Add a Comment
While walking around Best Buy yesterday I noticed a new sign had recently gone up over by the gaming department.  How I missed this until now is beyond me since I work there, but if you pre-order Kid Icarus: Uprising for the 3DS, you'll receive a code by email for a free download of 3D Classics: Kid Icarus.  The code will be sent around the time that 3D Classics: Kid Icarus is released.  It also seems that this can be done either in store at the pre-order kiosk or online.  This definitely just gave me a reason to pre-order Kid Icarus: Uprising.  I mean, I was going to get it anyway, but a free copy of the NES classic?  Heck yeah!

EDIT: Turns out this offer also applies if you pre-order the game from GameStop and Amazon.

Get ready for Kid Icarus Uprising with multiplayer tournaments

by: Sean Colleli - - Add a Comment
Kid Icarus Uprising makes its long awaited launch on March 23rd, and to get the hype train moving Nintendo is sponsoring a multiplayer tournament at Gamestops around the country. The tourney starts March 8th, with the winners from each regional location moving up the bracket until the final competition at the Broadway Gamestop in New York. The four regionals take place in San Francisco, Orlando, Los Angeles and New York.

Is it just me, or has Nintendo gotten a lot friendlier with Gamestop as of late? Giving them exclusive retail rights to Xenoblade Chronicles and the Circle Pad Pro, hosting their competitions there...I liked when Nintendo did this stuff at their official Nintendo World Store in Times Square. Kid Icarus or not, I still won't set foot inside a Gamestop unless absolutely necessary.
