If your thirst for simulated tropical despotism simply cannot be sated by anything and you're literally frothing at the mouth for your next fix, then you'll probably be thrilled to know that Tropico 5 is offering a Special Edition for those gamers that either pre-order the title or buy a boxed retail version at launch.

The Tropico 5 Special Edition will include a special avatar costume for El Presidente, the Bayo Del Olfato Sandbox Mode map, an authentic Tropico passport (not valid for international travel), and a Tropico postcard created by Penultimo himself.

You can also pre-purchase the game on Steam starting on April 17 for a 10% discount, the Businessman avatar for El Presidente, the Isla de Vapor Sandbox Mode map, and other, and as yet unnamed bonuses depending on the number of the pre-orders Tropico 5 gets on Steam.

To learn more, follow the jump.  Also make sure you visit Tropico 5 on Twitter, Facebook, and the good ole' Interwebs.

PSN Update 1.70 lets you create and share videos easily and allows for pre-loading of games

by: John - - Add a Comment

The PlayStation 4 will be getting update 1.70 soon and Sony has given some details on what's in release on their blog. Coming to the PlayStation 4 is the Share Factory. This little piece of software will let you edit your saved video clips with features such as transitions, commentary, and music. The software looks fairly intuitive and will allow you to use your own music as well as the included ones as well.

Finally, the update will allow people who pre-order games to pre-load the game onto their system ahead of time. This feature is something that's a god send on platforms like Steam allowing people to play the game the second it's launched. Being able to purchase a game and have it pre-load days before is an extremely helpful feature and one I'm glad to see come to the PlayStation 4.

PlayStation 4 hits the 7 million units sold mark

by: Chuck - - Add a Comment

It's been just over a month since the PlayStation 4 hit 6 million units and the system is showing no signs of slowing down as Sony announced today that the system has hit the 7 million unit mark worldwide.

That's a pretty impressive feat and it's nice to see the system continuing to sell so well.  I imagine that the release of Infamous: Second Son helped keep things going for Sony.  At this rate the system will hit 10 million units right after E3.

Pepsi augments reality, throws meteors, aliens, and attacking robots at bus commuters

by: Randy - - Add a Comment

If you'll pardon the shameless Pepsi Max plug, this is actually pretty cool. Pepsi took a busy London bus stop, installed a screen and a camera, then injected some augmented reality into a few pleasantly surprised commuters' lives. I think the dodgy tiger would've absobloodylootely made me get my knickers in a twist and take off down the motorway in my trainers, as they might say in the U.K.

Chop, shoot, and burn stuff in Bound by Flame combat video

by: Randy - - Add a Comment

Spiders Games details Bound by Flame's role-playing combat system in this recent video. Your bipolar, demon-possessed character advances three combat styles: fighter, ranger, and pyromancer. The fighter tree contains hand-to-hand martial skills, the ranger tree contains bow-and-arrow attacks, and the pyromancer tree lets you huck fireballs or set your weapon on fire. A bunch of customizations also change up the damage component—and physical appearance—of your blades; from the blade itself, to the hilt, to the pommel.

The bestiary lands halfway between eastern European fantasy and horror. It'll be interesting if your companions serve a greater purpose than as complements to your weapon sets. Those details may emerge in a later video. For now, here's what it looks like when you chop/shoot/burn stuff up.

Bound by Flame launches May 9 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Mercenary Kings coming to PlayStation Vita

by: Sam - - Add a Comment

Tribute Games recently released their new sidescrolling action RPG game Mercenary Kings on Steam and PlayStation 4, and now it sounds like the game will be making its way to PlayStation Vita as well. In an interview at PAX East Tribute Games said a Vita version is in the works and will include Cross-Buy with the PS4 version. There was no word on when the Vita version will release, but if you have a PS4 and PS+ you can play the console version for free right now.

I think a Vita port is an obvious choice for Mercenary Kings, and the Cross-Buy makes it even better. I'm hoping for a Cross-Save as well but if the game is as good as I hope it is I won't mind playing again.

Supergiant's Transistor's release date is sooner than expected

by: Sam - - Add a Comment

Supergiant Games announced today that their new game Transistor will be releasing on May 20th for PC and PlayStation 4. The follow up to Bastion, Transistor debuted at last year's PAX East and will be playable at this years PAX East to prepare for release. The action RPG stars a mysterious protagonist named Red who wields a strange and powerful sword.

I haven't had a chance to play Transistor yet, but I'm looking forward to picking it up next month. If Bastion is any indication Supergiant knows how to make a good action RPG.

Now Loading for the week of April 7, 2014

by: Jeremy - - Add a Comment

This week is all about pressure... on Microsoft that is! It’s a given that the new LEGO The Hobbit game will entertain fans of Tolken’s classic franchise and gamers alike, but how will both a new generation of the Kinect Sports franchise and a last-gen version of Titanfall fare with fans? I can speak from personal experience that Kinect Sports Rivals is an admirable addition to the franchise, despite some speedbumps along the way. AS for Titanfall, we shall have to wait and see...

Bruce Lee is in EA Sports UFC

by: John - - Add a Comment

Well this came out of nowhere. Bruce Lee, yes THE Bruce Lee, has been added as a fighter in EA Sports UFC

The legendary martial artist can be unlocked either by pre-ordering the game or finishing the career mode on pro difficulty or higher. With him unlocked, you can use him in the Flyweight, Bantamweight, Featherweight, and Lightweight divisions.

It seems a little surreal seeing Bruce in the Octagon with UFC gloves on. Bruce's motto was to be like water, move fluidly. Jeet Kune Do, the style he invented, doesn't have a fix position and it's a lot about reacting to the opponent.

Now one has to wonder how he would have done in something like the UFC. His speed and power was legendary. It's too bad we'll never know.

Why isn't Starr Mazer a real thing? Somebody make it a real thing!

by: Randy - - Add a Comment

Starr Mazer is not a real game and that makes me sad and you should be sad, too. This video was put together by the snazzy folks at Imagos Films. This trailer—for a non-product—has some good bullet hell action, sure, but the cutscenes and point-and-click adventure elements really sew things together.

It was actually developed as an in-movie commercial for indie film maker Don Thacker's Motivational Growth. I would play the heck out of some Starr Mazer, though.

Alien: Isolation sounds really scary

by: Randy - - Add a Comment

If you don't think sound is a major (major!) component to horror games, then you shouldn't (should not!) be making horror games. But thank our lucky stars, The Creative Assembly knows. And they're putting that knowledge into Alien: Isolation. Authenticity is their drive, and access to the original audio recordings from the 1979 movie is a big contributor to that chase.

A full orchestra. Minor key tonalities. Boots stomping fruit husks. Good stuff.

Alien: Isolation will be making people pee their pants on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on October 7.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation DLC is out today

by: Nathaniel - - Add a Comment

Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation is out today and includes a ton of crazy stuff.  New maps, a new weapon, a new episode of Extinction, and the Predator are all included.

If that's not enough, NFL stars AJ Green and LeSean McCoy will go against one another to commemorate the release of Devastation.

However, as a Cincinnati native, I think AJ Green should focus on being part of a football team that can win a playoff game before the heat death of the universe rather than publicly gaming, but I digress....

You can pick up Devastation for  $14.99 and it's also available as part of the CoD: Ghosts season pass.

For complete details, follow the jump.  You can learn more at www.activision.com, www.callofduty/ghosts.com, www.facebook.com/callofduty, and @InfinityWard
