A new reason to avoid Phillips brand TVs

by: Dan - - Comments (0)
If you are considering a new HD TV for your gaming rig and were looking at a Phillips brand, think again. An article in today's New York Times talks about Phillips ceasing to manufacture TVs for sale in the U.S. and Canada. The Phillips brand has always been considered a better TV brand, but not quite to the level of Samsung or Sony. Unfortunately, Phillips has contracted with Funai (Makers of entry level brands Sylvania, Emerson and Symphonic) to make Phillip branded TVs for sale in the U.S. for at least the next five years. The bottom line is that "Phillips" TV you see at your local retailer going forward will be nothing more than a skin over an entry level model from Funai. Run away..now.

Lets get excited about E3 09!

by: John - - Comments (7)
OK so E3 08 wasn't that great from what a lot of the media is saying. E3 07 wasn't that much fun either. Third time's a charm for a format change right? Well Gamespot has word that another E3 is planned for next year but the specifics aren't known yet of course. For a little bit before the show I was sad I missing out but as the show went on and I read some of the people's experiences I felt a lot better for missing out. While I'm sure everyone has their opinion on how they want E3 here's my quick take. Go to a show the size between the original and this years. Double the width of the aisles between each booth. This will fill up the halls a little more with the decreased amount of vendors showing. For the first three days, only let press through. The final two days let anyone in. Or, limit the number of public in the first few days in. That's a few of my suggestions, what's yours?

Sanus Systems cleaning up Video Gaming one screen at a time...

by: Dan - - Comments (0)
Sanus Systems announced last week that they have two new screen cleaning products shipping to retailers right now. With a large population of video gamers now use some sort of Hi-Definition or VGA display for their gaming needs (console or PC), Sans developed the products to help keep electronics clean, which "...preserves the picture quality of their display for a more enjoyable viewing experience.” according to Sanus Product Manager Jason Schmidt. The two new products from Sanus are the ELM101-X1, a complete screen care system, and the ELM102-X1 for use in a non-dusty environment. See all the details on each product after the jump, and expect a feature on them in a Hooked up Article that is the near future. The ELM101 will retail for $29.99 and the ELM02 for $17.99.
