Fishy adventure game, Koi, coming to America

by: Randy -
More On: Koi

The lovely, minimalist Koi makes its way from China to the West on April 19, next Tuesday. Koi is, in fact, the first Chinese-made video game to come to PlayStation 4.

In it, you're a fish. You're swimming through beautiful pond waters amidst lotus flowers, leafy branches, and grassy banks. But something's wrong. There's a black fish swimming in your waters—a black fish with red eyes and a laser-focused intensity to hurt the smaller fish in your swimming hole. But the other creatures sense an adventurous spirit at a heroic ability in you, little koi. Time to head downstream and learn what's become of the bloated black fish making their way upstream.

Again, Koi swims onto PlayStation 4 on April 19. Our review will be ready for this little adventure on launch day.

First Chinese Developed PlayStation®4 Title Published for Western Markets, KOI, Confirmed to Launch April 19

Oasis Games Announces Official Launch Date for its Award-Winning Experiential Game of Exploration

BEIJING - (April 11, 2016) - Oasis Games Ltd, a leading independent Chinese publisher, announced today that KOI, an award-winning exploration adventure game that follows the quest of a lone koi fish through an ever-evolving lotus pond, will be available on the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system via the PlayStation Store in North America on April 19, 2016. Developed by Tianjin-based indie studio Dotoyou, KOI will be the first ever Chinese developed title to be published on PlayStation 4 for Western territories.

KOI takes players on a seemingly small journey with deeper meaning. Players guide the koi through the murky waters tainted by mankind by solving puzzles, discovering enchanting melodies hidden within deadened twigs and other zen-like missions to bring light back to the darkened, polluted waters. This artfully depicted world conveys a wonderfully imaginative experience with an entrancing soundtrack by popular Chinese artist, Zeta.

Previously released on mobile to positive accolades and awards overseas including earning a first place award for the Modian Web PlayStation Developer Competition, KOI for PlayStation 4 is developed by Dotoyou and published by Oasis Games in North America and European territories. KOI will be available for $9.99 and $7.99 exclusively for PlayStation Plus members via the PlayStation Store. KOI is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
