CES 2016: Moving Hazard

More On: CES 2016 Moving Hazard

This afternoon I had the pleasure of stopping by and checking out the FPS game Moving Hazard, that we ran a piece on late last year. The game combines aspects of FPS, RTS and team-multiplayer into a tight little package with a very bug zombie twist. You can control them and use them as assets while attempting to win against the other team.

As far as the game goes, the developers stated to me that it would be a bit of a cross between Counter-Strike and The Walking Dead. I was able to view quite a bit of the game modes and maps, and see the multiple options for the three characters. Game should feature four multiplayer maps, along with a couple of hoard modes to get your feet wet. There will be several server options, including Psyop Games and IllFonic hosted servers along with the ability for individuals to host their own games. The maps will have many sizes, and those that played lots of Call of Duty may find some hints of influence included in the Moving Hazard maps.  The game should also run smoothly at 60FPS, with 40FPS seeming to be the sweet spot, although it will not support 4K when released.

After speaking with the dev team, it is quite clear that they spent considerable time trying to make the game fun and fair, ensuring that weapons, the environment and the player classes all have equal footing outside of availability of items due to leveling. However, the centerpiece of the game will be the ability to control the military altered zombies as weapons, utilizing a vast array of technology (Pheromone Attractor Molotov, Chaos Grenade & Templar) to make the zombies do your bidding.

One aspect that will be interesting is to see how players of differing backgrounds and favored game genres adapt to the strategy that will be needed to come out on top in Moving Hazard. After watching the devs play through many rounds, a couple of things are certain, never turn your back and don’t expect to remain by yourself for long.  Although I am not a huge fan of FPS games, I do like a game that allow for strategy to come into play, so Moving Hazard does have my attention.

Moving Hazard is expected to come out on Steam as a pre-release in the next couple of months with pricing to be announced at a later date.
