Earlier this year, Nintendo finally announced that they were joining the mobile gaming ranks with a partnership with online developer DeNA. Although DeNA primarily developed games for browsers, the intent is to bring Mario, Donkey Kong and others from the Nintendo catalog to smartphones.

Earlier today, the Wall Street Journal (via Fortune) stated that Nintendo has a meeting scheduled with investors tomorrow, with much speculation that new company president and CEO Tatsumi Kimishima will announce the first details around Nintendo’s mobile gaming plans.

For Nintendo fans this will be a huge announcement, and could change the financial landscape for a company that has been struggling for several years in both the console and handheld markets. I personally think that their greatest asset would be to license their IP characters to the more established consoles and PC games In order to maximize their revenue stream. While I likely won’t get my wish anytime soon, we call could at least be able to start taking Mario on the road with us in the near future.
