DRIVECLUB PS Plus Edition sees a slight delay

More On: DRIVECLUB

I must have spent a good 15-20 minutes browsing through the PlayStation Store last night looking for the free edition of DRIVECLUB that was supposed to be available to PS Plus members. Finally, I gave up out of frustration. Now I know why.

The developer took to their Facebook page to explain early this morning. Apparently the servers have been incredibly overloaded with those gamers who purchased the game on the first day. As a result, they have decided to hold back the free edition for a bit in order to prevent additional server-stress. At this time, there is no specific date set for the the PS Plus Edition of the game.

I am not sure that this is the best decision in the world. The game is certainly off to a very rocky start, from less-than-stellar reviews, to the apparent server issues, and now the delay of the free version. Sony has been advertising the free version for well over a year; pulling it the day of launch just doesn’t look good. Hopefully this delay is a small one and we will see the game released within the next couple of days.
