Nintendo's figurine program is now amiibo

One of the biggest announcements at E3 today was Nintendo's full unveiling of it's figurine initiative, now called amiibo. Like similar products in Skylanders you can level up your figures' onboard RFID stats, but they'll also be compatible with a wide, ever-expanding range of games. This means your figures won't just be limited to the new Smash Bros--they'll also work in Mario Kart 8, Mario Party 10 and whatever other games Nintendo decides to add to the program. The first line of figures is okay I guess, but I'd take Luigi or Zelda over the generic Animal Crossing villager any day.
