Yuri is a Soviet-era monkey with a jetpack and a laser

by: Nathaniel -
More On: Awesomenauts
We have another pair of  Awesomenauts videos.  This time, they star Yuri the monkey - apparently a remnant of the old Soviet space program.  One day he disappeared, caught in some kind of warpfield anomaly (Hey, just like John Crichton - Holy ****, did he just make a Farscape reference?) that transported him hundreds of years into the future, and super-powered his mind.  Now he has a talking jetpack (he modified his damaged rocket) and a laser, and he's coming to burn your face off.  Enjoy his videos and a veritable shmorgishborg of screen shots.  Awesomenauts hits XBLA and the PSN in February.  To learn more, follow the jump.

In Soviet Russia, Jetpack Flies Monkey: dtp entertainment and Ronimo Games reveal the latest Awesomenaut

Hamburg, 12/06/2011 – Today, dtp entertainment and Ronimo Games reveal the latest Awesomenauts Character: Yuri, the crazy and sadistic space monkey. Once part of the soviet space program, Yuri was a monkey, experimentally shot into space during the 1960's cold war spacerace. Mysteriously, monitoring soviet scientists suddenly lost track of monkey Yuri's spacecraft.
Puzzled by its sudden disappearance, Soviet space-command wondered what had become of their beloved test-pet Yuri. Little did they know that Yuri's spacecraft had entered a warpfield anomaly and was transported hundreds of years into the future!
Also, the warpfields radiation boosted Yuri's mind to superintelligent levels. The new, more intelligent, mad and slightly sadistic Yuri quickly grasped the situation and modified his broken rocket into an equally mad timetraveling supercomputer jetpack.
With the jetpack translating everything Yuri says and does, enemies are never quite sure who is in control, the mad scientist monkey, or the computer it created?
