If you were looking forward to Episode 2 of Sonic the Hedgehog 4
, you'll have to get it on something besides the Wii. Nintendo Everything is reporting
that Sega Brand Manager Ken Balough stated on the company's forums that Sonic 4 wouldn't be seeing any more releases on Wii.
This is pretty disappointing considering Sonic 4 Episode 1 was released on the platform but I understand their reasons. Aside from the recent Zelda Skyward Sword and hopefully the remaining Operation Rainfall titles, the Wii is pretty much a dead system at this point. I've been covering Nintendo platforms for a few years and it's frustrating but Nintendo typically abandons their last-gen hardware late in its life, at least software-wise, in favor of shifting focus to the next big thing, which in this case is Wii U. 3rd parties typically follow suit and I can't really blame Sega for reading the writing on the wall. Just make sure you have another console if you want to keep playing Sonic 4's episodic installments.
