Video game theme gets a Grammy nomination

by: Jeremy -
Early last week, composer Christopher Tin received a pair of Grammy nominations for his latest album entitled Calling All Dawns. His album gained nominations in the categories of “Best Classical Crossover Album” and “Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists” for the song “Baba Yetu”. What does this have to do with video games? Well, take a look / listen to the video below...

Fans of the this year’s Civilization V will notice that “Baba Yetu” is the theme song for the game. Tyler reviewed the game earlier in the year. The Grammy Awards will be handed out on February 13, 2011, though these categories are likely to be included in the list of awards given prior to the televised broadcast. We should all do our part though and root for one of our own as the track will written for Civ V and included on his latest album. Anyone want to bet one whether or not the song’s relationship to the game will be acknowledged by the award(s)?
